Tires

How to Tell When You Need New Tires and Other FAQs

Wisconsin winters take a toll on you and your vehicle. Before the snow hits, you should make sure your car is up to the test. Keep reading to find answers to frequently asked tire questions. Q: How often do I need a tire rotation? A: We recommend a tire rotation every 6 months or 5,000-6,000 miles driven, or during each of your routine oil changes. Q: How often do tires need to be replaced? A: The NHSTA recommends that tires be replaced every 6 years or sooner. However, your tires' wear and tear depends on how many miles you drive and road conditions. We recommended checking your tires regularly, and we will also check during each service visit. Q: How do I know which tires my vehicle needs? A: You can find what type of tires your vehicle needs by either looking at the tires currently on your vehicle or checking the driver's side door jamb. Your car should have a sticker listing the requirements. Q: How can I tell if I need new tires? A: You can easily check your tires using The Penny test. To test: Place your penny with Lincolns head facing down into the grooves of your tire. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, your tires are worn, and you should get them replaced. If part of Lincoln's head is not visible inside the tread, your tires are probably fine, and you should not need them replaced this season. Repeat step 1 in multiple spots along each one of your tires to verify that the tread is consistent throughout. If you check your tires and find that you need new ones, visit Markquart Menomonie. You can schedule a service appointment with us online, and during October and November, take advantage of buy 3 and get the 4 th for $1 tires. Offer valid 10/1/20 –11/30/20. Available on select tires in stock at participating dealerships. OHTSU, Kelly and Laufenn tires are excluded. Not compatible with the Tire Price Match Guarantee. See your Service Advisor for details on separate Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal promotional offers.

Winter Car Care

Winter Car Maintenance Tips

Stay Safe Out There! Winter is just around the corner, which means that now is the perfect time to make sure your vehicle is equipped to handle it all. Keep reading for some standard rules of thumb when winterizing your car, truck, or SUV! Tires: Worn tires are harder to notice during the summer; however, if your tire tread is practically nonexistent, your ability to stop and keep traction on icy roads will be severely impaired. Stay safe with a fresh set of tires. You can quickly check your tire tread with the penny test, or the team at Markquart Menomonie is happy to help. If you notice the low tire light on your dash when the temperature drops, don’t lag in filling them. We recommend keeping a pressure gauge in your glove box to check this. Our service team is happy to fill your tires, or you can fill them at most local gas stations. Coolant: Your engine's coolant is what keeps you windshield defrosted, and your passengers warm all winter long. Without clean and functioning coolant, you risk your engine overheating, leaving you without heat during the coldest time of the year. Wipers: Visibility on the road is crucial. If you start to notice streaks or squeaking when you use your windshield wipers, let our service team know during your visit. We’ll be glad to install wipers that perfectly fit your vehicle. Battery: Extreme heat or cold heightens the wear on your battery over time, and with the rapidly changing seasons in Wisconsin, you are more at risk. Visit us for service now and let our certified technicians make sure your battery is in tip-top shape. Schedule an appointment with Markquart Menomonie today, and let us help make sure your vehicle is winter-ready. We use only the best Mopar Parts, so you’ll know that your car is in good hands.
